Frances Hart- Head of Design
As Head of Design at Frances Hart, a luxury maternity fashion start up, I was responsible for setting the aesthetic direction and execution of all product. Once the initial concept had been outlined, in partnership with the founder, I would travel each season to mills in Como, Italy to research the print archives and work on new fabric developments. Designing into new silhouettes, I then partnered directly with amazing pattern makers in Europe and NYC to refine the fit of every style. Utilizing my background in womenswear and my own experiences with pregnancy and motherhood I truly felt a connection with this product. In addition to my design responsibilities, I helped to build out the core team of the business and was involved in high level strategy and decision making.
Fall 2021
Dreaming of travel to far off places, we were inspired by memories of the Gustave Moreau Musuem in Paris. The sumptuous interiors and beautiful paintings informed the color palette and inspired us to use vintage print and patterns.
Spring 2021
After a long winter we were longing for the fresh feel of Spring. Airy cottons look polished in classic shades of blue, punctuated by pops of red and lavender. We were inspired by the painterly line quality of Picasso’s drawings which are at once sharp and soft.
